Places To Visit In Helen Ga.

Helen GA is an interesting town to visit with an odd mix of charm and too much fun

depending on what time of day you come and visit or what month you visit in. If you come to Helen GA during October I would be careful, you probably won’t want to visiting Helen GA if you would prefer to associate with sober individuals. If not then Helen GA holds Octoberfest every year with many options for this sort of crowd. For the family, Alpine Helen GA offers an interesting tourist site to visit and shop around for standard tourist gifts. During the summer Helen GA also has tubing on the river which is a really cheap option for those who would like a lazy ride down the river. Flee Market Tubing offers tubing for three dollars and you can get a full afternoon worth of activity during the summer. They also have a couple of souvenir shops to hit up where you can get homemade goods from.

Toccoa Falls can be seen after a short walk to the 186 foot high waterfall located on the

campus of Toccoa Falls College. Toccoa is reportedly the Cherokee Indian word for Beautiful. Toccoa Falls College is actually surrounded by national forest and has many different options for hiking including a two mile hike to the lesser known Contentment Falls located past the end of Beaver Dam Trail near the entrance to the path to Toccoa Falls.

Tallulah Falls Gorge

Whether you are an outdoor enthusiast or simply looking for a beautiful place for a picnic in Helen GA, this is a necessary spot to stop. For the more extreme of us there is the option to kayak or swim in the river at the bottom of the gorge. There is an amazing view from both the middle of the suspension bridge and the overlooks scattered around the park. There is a variety of levels of difficulty depending on your choice but nothing terribly strenuous. The park is kept in great shape year round with a variety of activities offered throughout the year such as night hikes or late night canoeing on Tallulah Lake.

If you decide to stop at the gorge then there is definitely a need to stop at Isabelle’s for lunch or dinner after your hike. Isabelle’s is a great option if you want a “home-cooked” southern meal and provides sweet tea that will give northerners something to dream about. Isabelle’s is located right off of the side of 441 if you are heading south through Tallulah Falls or on the left if you are heading north.

Cabbage Patch Hospital

This is a great place to visit quickly if you have little girls or if the weather is not very

supportive of hiking. The Cabbage Patch Hospital is located in Cleveland, Georgia and offers the opportunity to look around and to even name a Cabbage Patch doll. You do not actually have to purchase a Cabbage Patch doll in order to name it which is a good option if you are on a tighter budget or have no need for a Cabbage Patch doll.
